Laughery Valley Baptist Association

About

We, being members of a local and autonomous American Baptist Church, are affiliated with our national denomination. The Aurora First Baptist Church is also a member of a local association as well. We are members of the Laughery Baptist Association. An association is composed of local churches in a close geographical proximity to one another.

The purpose of the association is centered solely upon our abilities to aid one another in spiritual growth, as well as to promote the cause of Christ within our bounds and throughout the world. The association was formed to be an advisory council and in no way is it intended to be a legislative body. The association, therefore, has no jurisdictional control over the participating churches.

The association shall consist of delegates from the Baptist churches now on its roll, and those from other Baptist churches as may regularly be admitted to the membership in this association.

Any church desiring fellowship in this association shall make application to the clerk and satisfy the Association that its articles of faith and its practices are harmonious with those of the other churches in this Association.

Each church of this Association shall be entitled to five delegates and their pastor, and two additional delegates for each 100 members or fraction thereof.

The Laughery Baptist Association shall be affiliated with the Indiana-Kentucky Baptist Convention and the American Baptist Churches USA. However, recognizing the universal nature of the church, it is our obligation and privilege to cooperate with other religious bodies having the same general objectives.

The officers of the Association shall consist of a Moderator, Vice Moderator, Clerk-Treasurer, and Assistant Clerk-Treasurer. The term of office for all officers shall be one year.
